HOOPLA AT THE WHAU ARTS FESTIVAL

Tena Koutou,
As part of the Whau Arts Festival HOOPLA, who bring about the Flotilla Whau each year, are collaborating to bring a trio of events mapping sonic and physical layers of the area surrounding the Whau River.

WSRC FIELD DAY
HOOPLA are collaborating with the Western Suburbs Radio Club ZL1AC at their clubroom located at 3000 Great North Road, where the road crosses the Whau River (look for the huge balloon). Come and find out what happens in this small building that many of us pass by daily but know little about. Refreshing afternoon tea will be available for koha. Open Saturday 17 October 1-4pm.

WALKIE TALKIE Join artist Christina Houghton and The Friends of the Whau on an urban bush bash. Setting off at 1pm from the Whau Arts Festival Plantation in Avondale and circumnavigating the Avondale Racecourse to traverse the banks of the Whau River, this tour of little known or as yet undiscovered routes will end up at the Western Suburbs Radio Club Hoopla Field Day for an afternoon tea.

CLUB BOOM BOOM This is a chance for anyone and everyone to discover for themselves what it’s like to ride in one of those cantankerous cars which rattle the teeth and the trunk. Think of it as a vibrational discotheque… a slowly lapping motion master… an urban promenade. This ride around the block is a tribute to aural graffiti, and a celebration of Whau’s sonic palette.Entry to CLUB BOOM BOOM is free. Dress code is whatever the dang heck you wanna wear. So sit back and chill! DJ Aniwaniwa's live mix will shake your booty for you! From Whau Arts Festival Main Site and WSRC Clubrooms between 1-4pm

So come and have a cuppa, hang out by the river and get to know your neighbours on the Whau.
